Arbor Day 2011 Celebration - Saturday, February 26

Kids' hands plantingTrees! Trees! Trees! Arbor Day is an event dating back to the late 1800's that celebrates the importance of trees. The Arbor Day celebration includes any activity involved with the planting of, caring for, or education about trees!

Arbor Day is celebrated annually all around the world, but the actual Arbor Day date can vary from region to region according to their best tree-planting times. For the state of Georgia, the official Arbor Day date is the third Friday in February. However, Keep Bulloch Beautiful (KBB) and the Georgia Southern Botanical Garden (GSBG) will be organizing Bulloch County’s celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, February 26 from 10am-1pm on the Willie McTell and we want you to be a part of it!

This year's celebration will include an array of activities for everyone including community tree plantings, FREE seedling give-a-ways, children’s activities including flower pot painting, making pinecone birdfeeders, proper tree care advice, and the opportunity for all participants to browse and purchase seasonal plants and trees to fill their yard and garden at the “Green Market”.  All festivities will take place on the Willie McTell Trail (in front of French Quarter) on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 10am-1pm.  VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THIS EVENT.  PLEASE EMAIL KBB@KEEPBULLOCHBEAUTIFUL.ORG FOR MORE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES.

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to get outside and celebrate Arbor Day with your community, friends, neighbors, and family! Click here to see event flyer.
