PLASTIC BAGS can be recycled at the City Recycling Center, Pretoria-Rushing Recycling Center, Bi-Lo, Wal-Mart, First Southern National Bank and all schools. See locations.
Materials accepted through this program include #2 and #4 film, or flexible, plastic. This includes plastic grocery bags, newspaper bags, dry cleaner covers, bread bags, and t-shirt bags.
Plastic bags are a significant part of the state’s litter problem. Because of this, KBB promotes proper disposal of plastic bags through recycling. Plastic bags are also a valuable commodity and can be made into products such as durable, outdoor building material for decks, playgrounds and lawn furniture.
Plastic bags also make up 7% of our total waste stream by weight. Waste reduction is a primary goal of Keep Bulloch Beautiful. To support this goal, KBB offers reusable grocery bags (see right) for $1. These bags are available at City Hall, Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau, Statesboro Chamber of Commerce, and the KBB office.
