Rivers Alive is Georgia's annual volunteer waterway cleanup event that targets all waterways in the state including streams, rivers, lakes, beaches, and wetlands.
The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia's water resources. KBB is actively involved in Rivers Alive and focuses these efforts on the Ogeechee River and its tributaries.
On Saturday, October 1, 2011, Keep Bulloch Beautiful (KBB) joined 60 other groups around the state to conduct litter cleanups in and around our most precious resource – water.
This year, KBB hosted its Rivers Alive event to clean up Bulloch County’s beloved Ogeechee River and its tributaries at Bulloch County’s 4 boat ramps and Little Lots Creek. Approximately 100 volunteers from various civic groups as well as individuals participated in this event.
Volunteers met on Saturday, October 1 at 9:00 am, at Mill Creek Park to breathe life into our rivers. They then dispersed to their assigned boat ramps where they collected over 1,100 pounds of trash from the river banks.
In 2010, volunteers and sponsors of Rivers Alive in Georgia we were able to remove 536 tons of trash from rivers and streams. Over 24,000 volunteers put in almost 90,000 hours of their time! In the 2010 Bulloch County Rivers Alive event 101 volunteers removed almost 1200 pounds of debris from the Ogeechee River area and put in 318 hours of service.

Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers who made this year's cleanup a success!
